Kid's record release sold out and
was a complete artistic success to boot. Tara De Long, Botanica,
and Stu Spasm all gave electrifying performances. Judah Bauer, Hollis
Queens, and Bob Bert serenaded Mr. Powers with The Pretenders' "Kid"
and the man himself joined them for The Cramps' "You've Got
Good Taste." He then jumped up with Julee Cruise and Marcus
Schmicklr for a short haunting set. Next the Pink Monkey Birds rocked
the people with their hits from Philosophy and Underwear
with the highlight being Thalia Zedek belting out "The House
on Highland Avenue" and "Sex Beat" with the boys.
Then the night closed with a rousing performance by the full original
New York Congo Norvell lineup of Kid, Sally Norvell, Jim Sclavunos,
Paul Wallfisch and Brian Emrich. Ian Svenonius was an awesome party
DJ as always and Gibby Haynes proved to be a hilarious MC. There
were really so many stellar moment that it's difficult to single
out only one highlight. It's hard to believe that it's already come
and gone - a night no one is likely to soon forget - and, best of
all, Kid's records are now available!... Go to Kid's
shows page for info about his gigs and South
by Southwest performances.

Madruga's Live At Tralfamadore
was already released twelve days after the Oslo concert (see
below) and now is the number one album on the charts in Norway. Go
here for their official
bio in which they say the following, "Kid Congo is the nicest,
kindest, coolest human being, a fantastic character and person. He
was on tour in Europe so he just flew into Oslo for the Spektrum gig.
He came to the soundcheck and, on the night, he made his guitar sound
like wind and fire. That’s his trademark..."

Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds just arrived from
a six-week-plus European tour. With only a couple of exceptions the
shows went well - with sold-out headling shows in venue with upto
1,500-person capacities. The only bad news is that their van was broken
into in Rome - with the robbers making off with a few thousand Euros
of tour money, Kid's laptop, and other valuables.
